Swimmers getting far too much attention!!
January 13th 2007 11:24
On a recent sports survey regarding sports popularity in Australia, It resulted as saying that Australian Swimmers get way more attention than they deserve.
The Competition for Australian swimmers overseas is very limited which guarantees the majority of Australian swimmers a medal in international competition.
Swimming did not finish in the top 25 sports in the world and that was indicated because european countries are mostly too cold to adopt in the culture of swimming and countries that may have that opportunity take interest in other sports such as long distance.
Out of all the Olympic sports, swimming was considered as 5th least most demanding with only the practical swimming training a necessity to perform.
Athletes who perform in combat sports such as wrestling and judo were at the most demanding sports with the intense physical and brutal training regiment along with the skills of both those sports.
In comparison it was believed that both a heavyweight wrestler and a judo player had far better stamina and cardio than a lean top level swimmer and a light weight wrestler and judo player was also believed to be far superior in strength.
Overall it seems swimmers in Australia are "grossly" Overrated and given far too much attention where it seems Australia must concentrate on sports that deserve more media attention and funding.

If swimming is so great then why do swimmers have poor postures, high bodyfat and twisted hormones?
