Losing weight for summer
December 11th 2007 06:13
I am embarking on a quest to discover the efficaciousness of the South Beach Diet. Basically it requires me to eschew all carbs - including those found in fruit and veg!
The fisrt 2 days have been tough - morning teas and lunches in the office have me torn between my ambition to lose weight and my desire to save money.
The first phase is the strictest and I have been eating a breakfast of egg whites, pepper and coriander. It is probably better than it sounds. Tonight I dine on chicken breast and a huge salad - I can eat serves as large as I like, so long as I stick to what is and isn't allowed.
Has anyone had a crack at this diet? How did it go? Did you exercise too?
I will let you know the results as they appear (or disappear!)

I can't give any advice on diets as I like my food. Are there diets that incorporate Peking duck?

I tried the South Beach diet a few years ago, it was great! My body felt cleansed after the first few days and I found that I didn't crave carbs or sugary, fatty things after that. My mum and I kept up Stage 1 for the two weeks, however we found it difficult to balance everything out in Stage 2, when you re-introduce carbs into your diet, so it fell apart somewhere around there.
Good luck!

Postmod - I am enjoying all the vegies. At day 3. No bread cravings yet and salds are going down well.
